Trampoline World Championships 9-12 November

Trampoline World Championships 9-12 November 2023

What a phenonenal few days of competition for Coach Phil and our gymnasts and the GBR Team!

Ruth

competing in her 4th World Championships went in with a singular mission; to deliver a performance that matches what she does in training. She did that in abundance, winning her group in Qualification 1, and progressing through to the individual final for the first time from Qualification 2. In that final she produced the pass of her life to tie 4th place on score with 3 other gymnasts. Following application of the tie break rules she finished an utterly incredible 6th place in the World.

Ruth has been both a bronze and silver team medalist in years passed. This year her senior women’s team finally climbed the top step of the podium. Ruth is a WORLD CHAMPION!!!

Omo

2022 was a difficult year for Omo internationally. He emphatically put that all behind him in 2023. Omo won his group in Qualification 1, and secured his place to his first individual final following Qualification 2. In that final he put down a strong pass to finish an amazing 5th in the World.

We are really greatful to the support he has received from #stevenagecommunitytrust this year.

Marshall

In his last competition before announcing his retirement from the sport he delivered the consistency he has been renowned for over the years. Finishing as the first reserve for Qualification 2, and helping to ensure the men’s team progressed into the team final.

Lewis

Lewis stamped his authority on the world as one of the highest scoring athletes on one pass. Unfortunately a mistake on the second pass meant his individual competition ended at Qualification 1. However, he then stepped up again in the All-Around competition for GBR and absolutely nailed his pass again. Helping to win the bronze medal, to supplement the gold he won as part of the team in the 2022 event.

The 3 boys, alongside their other GBR teammate sealed the deal in the men’s team final, winning GBRs first men’s team medal in 10 years, with a hard fought bronze medal.
